Music is a popular way for one to express sound for pleasure, healing and connection. It is a way to share meaningful messages and pass them down through the ages. Some early faiths used sound vibrations for healing and transformation that included the use of songs, chants, mantras, instruments, tuning forks and brass and crystal singing bowls. A mantra considered to be the ‘sound of creation’ and passed down is, “Om,” pronounced “Aum or Um. ” Apparently in the stillness of meditation this sound can be heard underneath all other sounds. It has been suggested that it balances the body, mind and soul.
Om is associated with the 6th chakra that represents one’s third eye.
